Hello lovely book people and welcome to my Weekly Round-Up ๐
I haven’t done a round-up in a while, what with being at work now and not really having much time to breathe let alone read and review, however I have 2 weeks off work so here for one week only is my weekly Round-Up ๐ ๐
I’ve already had a week away in Devon, which was fabulous,ย as you will probably know Devon is my happy place and I love it there ๐ whilst I’m away I don’t review any books, I don’t like to feel any pressure while I’m on holiday, I just want read and read, however this year I did buy and read a book that I feel needs a mention, and that is ‘Asking for it’ by Louise O’Neill. From the moment I started reading it Iย felt slightly uneasy and as I continued to read that feeling got stronger. And if I’m honest, I did put the book down a couple of times, however I could’nt help going back to it as its quite compulsive reading. It’s a book with subject matter that, whilst quite bad, could quite easily happen to you and me, which is quite a scary thought. And unusually I’m still thinking about this book today, at least 3 days after I finished reading it. This book is very powerful and hopefully it will help to bring awareness so more rape victims are believed and helped, because sadly they are not and told they were ‘asking for it’ as the books title suggests. Its happening more and more.
So please go out and buy this book today, you wont regret it ๐
Anyway lovely people, its time for me to go and paint the living room walls, as the second week of my holiday is dedicated to decorating the living room as we are getting fabulous new sofa’s next Saturday ๐
