Back of the book :
You are invited to the wedding of the year !
Snow is falling thick and fast outside the Gingerbread Cafe and inside, its owner Lily is planning the wedding of the year. Her wedding ! She never dreamt it would happen, but this Christmas, she’ll be marrying the man of her dreams – in a Christmas card perfect ceremony !
The Gingerbread is baking, the dress is fitted and the mistletoe’s in place – for once, everything’s going to plan. That is until her Mother-in-law arrives … Suddenly, Lily’s famous cool is being tested like never before and her dream wedding is crumbling before her eyes.
In the blink of a fairylight, the Gingerbread Cafe has been thrown into chaos ! Lily thought she has this wedding wrapped up, but with so much to do before she says ‘I do’, can Lily get to the church on time – and make this Christmas sparkle after all ?
What I think :
Lil lives in a small town, Ashford in Connecticut. There she owns the Gingerbread Cafe.
This Christmas eve, Lil is getting married to Damon, the love of her life. She has everything planned and everything seems to be perfect. The dress and the cake and even Damon’s daughter, Charlie is flying in to be Bridesmaid
However, when Damon’s parents turn up, things start to go wrong in a big way and Lil doesn’t know if things will come together in time for their big day ….
I really enjoyed reading this book, even although when I was reading it the sun was shining outside, it still made me feel very festive.
I hadn’t read the the other books in the series, but I didn’t think it mattered much, as I think, this book stands pretty well on it’s own.
It has a pretty wonderful cast of characters, Missy and Sarah, are Lil’s best friend’s and are always there with her in the thick of things. But my Favourite has got to be CeeCee with her very wonderful ‘Southern Ways’ and is a second mum to Lil.
Lil is a very likeable character and you can really relate to her problems and setbacks. And I thought that Damon was a pretty interesting Character too !!
Its a gorgeously lovely fairytale of a love story, with a bit of real life thrown in. Misunderstandings, mishaps and tragedy put things in jeopardy and its touch and go there for a while, but she has her friends to help her through. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I really couldn’t put this book down, right from the first word to the excellent ending that made me cry happy tears. I shall be buying the others books in the series very soon.
I give this book a very festive 10/10.
