Back of the book :

Everyone loves Christmas – don’t they ?

Carrie Blake loves her job as a nanny but, while her friends are settling down, all of Carries spare time is spent with other people’s families. Though it breaks her heart, her New Years resolution is to embark on a new career and to fix her love life.

As Carrie starts her last job, she’s sure she’ll be going on a high – the house is amazing, the kids are adorable, and she’s in charge of decorating the tree !

The only problem could be her boss … single dad, Adam Fletcher might be both handsome and successful, but he’s always working. Doesn’t he realise he’s missing out on precious moments with his son and daughter ?

As Adam’s family arrive for Christmas including his sensitive sister, Sharon and his fun – loving elderly Grandpa, Walter. Carrie realises that she might have found the perfect allies in her quest to persuade Adam to loosen up. There’s still time for Carrie to make this the best Christmas ever ….. after all, Christmas is the time for miracles, isn’t it ?  Let festivities begin !!

What I think :

Carrie Blake is a nanny, she really enjoys her job, but she’s beginning to want more from her life, including a husband and children. She’s a nervous type of person, and not very confident. She reads a lot of Self-help books. She’s on a short term contract at Adam’s house until after Christmas. In the New Year she want’s to change her life for the better.

Adam Fletcher is a single parent with four year-old twins, David and Olivia, he shares custody with their mother Gwen. He owns a brewery and is very wealthy, Oh and Handsome too  !  The only trouble is, He’s always at work and he’s missing out on too many special moments with his children.

Can Carrie help Adam prioritize his life before its too late and change her own life at the same time?

I really enjoyed reading this book, the characters are quite wonderful. I really liked Carrie and felt a bit sorry for her at times, as she was so unsure about so many things and was always consulting her books, although she really did know her job, she was like a modern day ‘Mary Poppins’  I also quite liked Adam as he seemed to want to provide for his children, but just didn’t seem to be able to work out how to do that and actually spend time with them too.

Adam’s family were wonderful and I really wished they would adopt me ! They were such fun, and really warm and friendly. And that house, Boy, would I love to live there, with all those wonderful books in the playroom and the Office !

I found the self-help quotes at the start of each chapter quite quirky and different. And I really loved the feel-good ending.

This is a very lovely ‘cuddle’ of a book that gives you a lovely warm glow inside, It really put me in the mood for Christmas and its only early October.

This is the first of Jenny’s books that I’ve read but I will be certainly looking out for the others.

I give this book a very Christmassy 9/10.
