It had To Be You – Ellie Adams

Back of the book :

The Worst breakup ever … Could be the best thing that has ever happened to her.

Lizzy Spellman has been dumped. At a Party. While Wearing a Henry VIII costume. By the man she thought was the one. Someone has even filmed it, so now she’s a massive YouTube hit sensation too.

Just when she thinks things cant get worse, She meets the rudest, most cynical man in the world, and gets a new mission in life. To prove him wrong.

Love does exist, and she’s going to find it …

What I think :

Lizzy Spellman has been publicly dumped at a party, by the person she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. The worst part was, at the time she was dressed as Henry VIII. Not only that, due to the wonders of modern technology the whole thing was videoed and put on YouTube. By lunchtime the next day it had had over 300,000 hits ! And has news reporters camping outside her house for days. She will be forever known as the ‘Headbutt girl’ who was dumped !

Luckily she has some really good mates, Poppet and NIc, to help her through her sticky moments. They are very loyal and have always got her back

Enter Elliott Anderson who is ‘Off the News’. He’s engaged to the very lovely Amber De La Haye, and has this really annoying habit of being able to rub Lizzy up the wrong way ! (Although he does have very gorgeous thick red hair !! ) Will they ever see eye to eye ? …

I absolutely loved this gem of a book. It has some really genuine heartfelt moments in it, but also some really laugh out loud moments too. I also really liked the refreshing style of writing that made this book really unputdownable.

Lizzy is a larger than life Bridget Jones type of character that you can really relate to, with some really lovely supporting characters in Poppet and Nic. I really wish that I’d got a couple of friends like those two to rely on.

All in all this is a really lovely, lighthearted read that I would highly recommend

I give this book 9/10
