Back of the book :
Lately Felicity just can’t shake a shadow of uncertainty. Her husband Quinn is the kindest person she knows and loves peculiarities more than Felicity feels she deserves. But suddenly it’s as if she doesn’t quite belong.
Then Felicity experiences something extraordinary : a scent of perfume in the air which evokes memories that have been settled in her for a long time, untouched and undisturbed. As it happens again and again, the memories of a man Felicity hasn’t seen for ten years also flutter to the surface. And so do the feelings of being deeply, exquisitely in love …
Overwhelmed and bewildered by her emotion, Felicity tries to resist sinking blissfully into the past. But what if something isn’t as it should be ? What if her mind is playing tricks on her heart
What I think :
Felicity is married to Finn, they’ve only been married for a year. He’s the editor of the local news paper and she is a cartoonist / author, but she hasn’t been able to write or draw anything for a long time. Felicity thinks Finn is probably the kindest person she’s ever met, however she feels that she’s not quite good enough for him.
Felicity was close to her mother, Esther bloom, who was a artist too. But sadly her mother died of cancer just before she met and married Finn.
One day she’s hurrying to meet Finn when she smells a scent that reminds her of her mum. Then a few days later she smells it again and realises it also reminds her of Ewan, a boyfriend that broke her heart ten years ago.
Felicity know she loves Finn but wants to be 100% sure that she doesn’t still love Ewan, so she goes to London, where Ewan lives to find out if she still loves him.
This book has some beautiful characters that you really cant help but like. you find yourself really caring about what happens to them. Julie writes so well that they really jump off the page and become very real.
In the last third of the book there is a bit of a twist that makes everything become clear and you just have to keep on reading to find out what happens.
This isn’t a ordinary story about love, there is so much more to it than that, It goes so much deeper, I feel that my review just couldn’t do it justice, so all I’m going to say is you really need to read this book.
Not only that, but this book has such a gorgeous cover too!
I’m going to be thinking about this book and its lovely characters for a long time to come.
I’ve found my ‘Book of The Year’
I give it 10/10.
