A Place for Us (pt 1) – Harriet Evans

The House has soft, purple wisteria  twining around the door.

you step inside.

The hall is cool after the hot summers day, The welcome is kind, and always warm.

Yet something makes you suspect life here cant be as perfect as it seems.

After all, The brightest smile can hide the darkest secret.

But wouldn’t you pay any price to have a glorious place like this ?

Welcome to Winterfold.

Martha Winter’s family is finally coming home …

What I think ;

Martha and her husband David have lived at Winterfold for years, They have raised three children there, Bill, Florence and Daisy. Bill Still lives in the same village he grew up in, Florence now lives in Italy and Daisy is in India.

The lovely old house, its been the scene of a many a party over the years. Now there is to be another, Martha’s 80th Birthday party. where Martha is to reveal a secret.

All the children have been called back to Winterfold – will they all return ?

Each Chapter is about each character and their lives. However It would seem that its not just Martha that has a secret, everyone it would appear, has something to hide.

I have always really enjoyed Harriet’s books and I was thrilled to be pre-approved to read and review part 1.

The novel has a wonderful cast of characters emerging and I’m really intrigued to find out what happens next, I really can’t wait until the next part.

Thank you to Netgalley, Elizabeth Masters and the Publishers Headline review for the Digital copy/Book to read and review.
