The Third Wife – Lisa Jewell

In the Early Hours of an April morning, Maya stumbles into the path of a oncoming bus.

A tragic accident ? Or suicide ?

Her grief stricken husband, Adrian is determined to find out. Maya had a job she enjoyed; she had friends.

They’d been in love. She even got on with his two previous wives and their children. In fact, they’d all been one happy family.

But before long Adrian starts to identify the dark cracks in his perfect life. Because every family has secrets.

And secrets have consequences. Some of which can be devastating.

What I think :

When we first meet Maya its very late at night and she’s very drunk. she then walks in front of a Night bus. Was it a accident or was it suicide ?

Then we meet Adrian, Maya’s husband. Maya was Adrian’s third wife. He is still very good friends with his two former wives Susie and Caroline. They have five children between them. They’re one big happy family. Or are they ?

The first part of the book is about Adrian trying to get on with life after the loss of his wife, Maya. then almost a year after Maya dies Adrian meets Jane.

Who is she really ? and what’s she up to ?

And who was sending those awful emails to Maya before she died ?

Wow ! this is a brilliant book about how things may seem perfect on the surface, but underneath there are many cracks.

Lisa has really surpassed herself with this tale of love and families. It has many twists and OMG moments, you really don’t want to put it down until the very end.

All I can say is, you need to read this book !

A very well deserved 10/10
