If You Were Me – Sheila O’Flanagan.

On  a sultry summer evening in Seville, anything can happen …

Carlotta O’Keefe is happily engaged, and the wedding plans are coming together. Shes’s clear about her future path, both personally and in her busy career. Maybe Chris doesn’t make her heart race every time she see’s him, but you can’t have that feeling forever can you ?

Then on a trip to Seville, Carlotta runs into Luke Evans. Luke Broke her heart so long ago she’d almost convinced herself she’d forgotten him. Now he’s not that boy anymore, but an attractive and intriguing man. And he can explain everything that happened way back when.

Suddenly Carlotta’s not so sure of anything any more. Except that what she decides now will shape the rest of her life ……

What I think :

When we first meet Carlotta she is late, She needs to catch a train to the airport so she get back to Ireland. she has to be at her fiance’s mothers birthday party. She has quite a difficult relationship with her mother-in-law to be and really wants to make a good impression.

Whilst trying to decide what to do, she bumps into Luke. Luke is the one that got away. The one her mother called ‘Beautiful’.They were friends long ago and he broke her heart when he went away and never came back. Now here he is after all those years offering her a place to stay for the night, What is she to do ?

Carlotta has a very good job. A nice fiance, a lovely best friend, Sive and wonderful God daughter Natasha. She feels she has it all, However this is a bittersweet tale of thinking life is good then it throws a curve ball and you wonder ‘what if’. Is Carlotta having a pre-wedding wobble or does she need to change some things in her life ?

I have read all of Sheila’s books and really loved them all, and I’m glad to say this is another triumph. A brilliantly written tale of love and life with a few twists and turns along the way. It has lots of lovely supporting characters and wonderful geographical descriptions that make you feel as if you could be there

An excellent beach read you wont want to put down.

A well earned 10/10
